Neck pu to replace jazz?

Got a jb/jazz set and love the jb but am not 100% satisfied with the jazz. I like its clarity but like a warmer, more bluesy voice? The jazz almost sounds like a hot single coil and i am not a yngwie type player i am more old school like schenker, moore, clapton, etc. Need something that still has good articulation but real warm. Two examples of a good neck pu tone would be old ufo schenker and evh's custom wound dimarzio neck pu.

I would definitely suggest the APH in your case. Sweet, warm, articulate....great cleans and beautiful singing voice under gain. At one time I had 5 different 2 HB guitars and they all ended up with an APH in the neck eventually. It matches with almost any bridge pup short of all out metal/grindcore/shredder stuff.

I would like to try it with a UA05 or even an A3/A4 just for fun, but it's fairly spectacular as it is.

Or look at the Pearly Gates neck. An incredible neck pickup.

The Seth, Antiquity, and 59n are all great contenders.

I do like the Jazz Neck for it's clarity and balance, but I like another flavor of a similar thing...the Pearly Gates Neck. It's still a bright or balanced pickup, but has the vintage texture without the woofiness of most other Alnico 2 designs.

This sounds like what you're describing.
It gets a great bluesy solo sound that slices through the rhythm section like a Ginsu knife and is a bit warmer than the Jazz.

I'm really high on the Full Shred Neck also. Super clean sounding, tight and percussive, crisp cleans and warm, singing dirty tones.

well when I think of bluesy neck hummers, I think aph-1n. If you want a brighter variation on the theme, you can grab a pg-n. The 59n gives you a fuller alternative to the Jazz.
