Neck Pup Advice Needed!!

TwilightOdyssey

Darkness on the edge of Tone
Hi all,

I'm going to be swapping out the neck pup on my ESP Kamikaze 4. It currently has an ESP pup in there.

Bridge pup is a Screamin' Demon. What do you think would work best:

> L'il Demon

Or, should I go totally different and put an SSL-1 in there?
If I do this, will the SSL-1 hum?

I do not wanna put a Hot Rails in there; I already have a guitar with Hot Rails in it. I don't like the Cool Rails, and I actually prefer Joe Barden pups for rails.

Re: Neck Pup Advice Needed!!

This post makes me feel guilty when I shouldn't - I always favoured the notion of the Hot Rails, Murray plays them! :p

Wouldn't the JB Jr. be too harsh and top-end in the bridge? Considering the guitar is made of maple with a maple fb...

But I wouldn't listen to me, you're the shred-man here.

it's the neck pup bee

and you already know my oppinion ben

Re: Neck Pup Advice Needed!!

i think a jb jr would be a cool choice, but i like the lil demon as well, a little brighter which may not be something you want in an all maple guitar

Re: Neck Pup Advice Needed!!

Hmm, you're killing me here. The Hot and Cool Rails are my two favorite (single coil sized) neck pickups for shred tones.

Yes, the SSL-1 will hum.

Re: Neck Pup Advice Needed!!

JB Jr. It's a bit fatter than the Lil Screamin Demon, which would work well with all that maple.

Re: Neck Pup Advice Needed!!

Vintage rails, eh?
I'm going to look into that right now!

Edit: Is the Vintage Rails noiseless, tho?

it's a humbucker.. like the rails, just vintage voiced and built

SVR-1 Vintage Rails use a unique split rail, twin coil design and special wiring to achieve true single coil tone without any hum. The sound is clean, clear and bright, with all that quack you love in the notch positions. Use them as a complete set or with a Hot Rails? in the bridge for a truly versatile Strat
