One of my friends son plays a faded SG (and very well also). He's very happy with the stock bridge pickup but want's to replace the neck pickup. He says the neck pickup is muddy and useless. I don't have a clue what would work for an SG because I've never owned one so any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

i have a Distortion in the neck of my Faded SG- if your friend's son requires single note definition under high gain settings, the Distortion is a highly recommended unit. i'm happy with the default 490R bridge humbucker, so likewise, it remains in tact...

My friend just put a jazz neck humbucker in his SG shortly after Christmas and he loves it. I'm not sure what style you play, but it's great for almost everything he's into. Tool, Green Day, Shadows Fall etc... Clarity is a definate plus with the Jazz.
