Neck PUP Suggestion in 24 Fret Guitar - Help!

Re: Neck PUP Suggestion in 24 Fret Guitar - Help!

The Demon is great. I like the Full Shred in a 24 ret guitar. I am using a JB in a cheap Jackson Dinky (24 fret, basswood body, rosewood fretboard) and love it. I use the '59 in the neck of everything, but the Jazz would be a good pick, especially if you want a little more clarity.

I am NOT an active guy. Had an EMG 81 years ago, liked it, and then heard the custom custom in a guitar exactly like mine, swapped in the custom custom and never gave active pickups another thought.

In your experience, how does the Demon, Full Shred and Jazz compare in 24 fretters? Thanks!

I'm now leaning toward a Custom8 in the Bridge and a Sreamin Demon or Pearly Gates BRiDGE in the neck.

FWIW,
Of the last 2 neck pups you mentioned, the pearly gates bridge has the most volume of posts written saying how good it is in the neck.

I'll second the JB in the neck. I had it in my RG570. Killer.

Go with the 500K. 500K will give you more treble compared to a 250K.

Re: Neck PUP Suggestion in 24 Fret Guitar - Help!

Another thing. If you do go with the JB in the neck remember to adjust the pickup height since it's a little hotter than the 59/Custom.

I paired the JB in the neck with an 80s Dimarzio Al Di Meola in the bridge which is pretty hot. It was awesome.

Re: Neck PUP Suggestion in 24 Fret Guitar - Help!

...I've actually decided to go with the Demon in the Neck and a regular Custom in the Bridge. I have an A8 lying around if I want the Custom8. ...Been taking me 2 weeks to decide and I'm gonna pull the trigger on the Demon for the neck in my 24 fret 'Bird.

Cheers for all the help, guys!

Re: Neck PUP Suggestion in 24 Fret Guitar - Help!

The best compromise for the 24-fret-crap-neck-tone is to have a pickup wound with the screw coil a good deal stronger than the slug coil, by at least 1k on 42AWG pickups.

BLUESBUCKER!!! I used one in the neck position of my 24 '77 Ibanez Artist. The screw coil creates 90% of the output and the other coil cancels the hum. iT'S BY FAR THE BEST HUMBUCKER i'VE EVER USED TO GET A THROATY AND CLEAR NECK TONE ON A 24 FRET GUITAR. Ack! Damn caps lock! PS: Make sure to put the screw coil TOWARD the neck. It's amazing in parallel and split mode, too.

I was going to say, I get the feeling if you wait around long enough, eventually we will recommend every single pickup in the entire SD product line.
