Neck SC-sized hum to match a D Activator?

So I'm ordering an HS pickguard for my Strat. I cannot stand how blunt the bridge pickup sounds from being so far away from the bridge, so I figured it might be a good time to get a neck pickup iin there. Even if I rarely use a neck pickup, it's a cool option to have in there that doesn't really get too in the way the way a middle pickupe does.

I've already got the D-Ac on the way. I basically want something smooth, hot, and fat, but not muddy that matches the output level of DiMarzio's third hottest pickup offering.

So... opinions? Will an Air Norton S fit the bill? Or is itoo low output?

Both available in cream, right?

How about the Super Distortion S? Might be a more balanced alternative to the Fast Track 2.

I have an rg3xxv with a DA/air norton s combo.

I like the ANS better than the full sized version. Its a great pickup if you like warmer tones.

Have you compared it to the Hot Rails neck? That one also seems interesting.

Also, how is the balance? Do they balance well output wise?

No comparison TO THE HR neck, sorry.

They valance really well! The ANS is the same output as the full sized one. No worries there.

OK... so bumping the thread.

How about a fat single coil in the neck?

I'm thinking something along the lines of a QP.

Except they don't make QP's in cream.

DiMarzio SDS? Anything similar?

The QP might be a good choice, but yeah, I don't think they make a cream one. Maybe you can modify another cream cover for the bigger poles?

Bump!

Anyon try the DiMarzio SDS-1 or maybe the Rio Grande pickup that's more like a P90 than a Fender Single Coil? Any thought son those?

I'm gonna echo the hot rails sentiments. It's a winner, probably my fave hum in a single alongside the Dim satch track (a very underrated pickup)

with 10k (AWG43 ???) the hot rails neck might actually have some highs.
But i never tried it.
Since you found the tele hot rails bridge too dark, i think it's worth mentioning this is a different wind.

i had better experience with the DMZ single sized buckers than with the duncans (lil59b, lilSDn+b), but the hottest was the chopper and that will be no better than the 59/JB mix which you also don't like.

The neck Hot Rails isn't as middy as the bridge one. You can always wire it in parallel, too.
