Neck shape on Charvel Production models??

I assumed that the neck shape was supposed to be the same on the so cal and san dimas models.. (both are Japanese) I LOVE LOVE LOVE my so cal. The neck is as closed to perfect as Ive ever found. I visually prefer the non pickguard models tho, and wanted another guitar with this neck so I could set up a diff pickup arrangement, so I bought a san dimas. But every time I play the San Dimas, it doesnt have that natural feeling I get with the other one. I was thinking surely, it isnt just the visual and all that was throwing me off?
So today, I held them up side by side ( I dont have calipers) and I can see where the neck is alil bit deeper. It also feels alil wider like Jackson necks feel to me. Are they supposed to be the same? I guess there isnt much that can be done, and I dont dislike the San D, but its alil dissapointing that it doesnt feel as perfect..

Chushin Gakki necks like to be a bit individualistic, and by that I mean that each one is different. It's supposedly due to the manufacturing process.

I knew what you meant bro!! Hmmm.. I figured they would be identical. I know the asymetrical neck on my Gibby is supposed be diff as each is finished by hand, but again, Im suprised by the charvel..

Re: Neck shape on Charvel Production models??

Well, I've got an USA SoCal Type 1 and, a friend of mine has a Japanese San Dimas. To me, both guitars are identical, despite of the set of pickups and that, in the case of the japanese one the borders of the fretboard are somewhat carved (what improves the playing!).
So, same body shape and size, same neck dimensions, same playing fun, just different pickups.

Thats one reason I kinda like the Japanese ones better, cuz of the neck edge. The second one, with the bigger neck, doesnt seem to have that. The neck edge is more pronounced and not as comfy in my hand

Re: Neck shape on Charvel Production models??

Yeah, the second one is def thicker, wider and not noticably rolled on the edges.. The first one is rolled so deep that it almost looks scalloped. The second one sounds huge tho! Was gonna swap out the JB for an RTM, but man it sounds beefy..
