i havent played an emg sa in a while but i have a set of blackout singles. i have the bridge and neck wired to a switch to utilize both output levels. it sounds like a fat strat, good bottom, warm mids, and clear top end. lots of output with the jumper in place. the livewire is much more scooped and vintagy sounding. there is a nice compression that feels good under the fingers but its still a dynamic pup. i tried them on a lark a few years ago but they have stayed in one of my two main strats since i put em in. surprised i liked them as much as i do since i moved away from actives more than a decade before i put these in

Im using an original LiveWire Metal humbucker and LiveWire Hot Strat (H/S, 3way tele switch) in an 88 Kramer F3000 and there isnt much drop in volume to speak of and Im really diggin having a neck pickup after like 15yrs of Single hum guitars.
The set Im using came in both “Classic” and “Metal” variants, so I can only deduct that if I were using a Classic Strat single there would be a more noticeable volume drop but as I said Im really digging it.
Ive heard of guys that used an 81 or 85 bridge with an S or SA neck coupled with an EMG PA-2 or even an After Burner preamp boost (set to the neck position only) to help alleviate the volume drop, which sounds like a viable solution to me.
