Honestly, I find neck-thru's to have an overall 'round' tone to them, kind of tubby in the low-midrange and fairly soft on the pick attack. Bolt-ons are more snappy and responsive, generally with a tighter low-end and less overall 'sag' to the timbre of the instrument.

They each have their own place. I found both clips to be aurally pleasing, but different.
