Maple.... Truely a pity that, unless custom ordering new stuff, theyre hard to come by.
I was not aware of that, having not shopped for an "off the rack" bass in years.
I have 5 that are rosewood (including my Rick, which has a finish that's like nail polish, making the wood kind of moot :guilty. I bought most of them the way I selected girlfriends (exclusively based on looks)...
My '76 P (maple) is the reason my new Warmoth Custom Tele will have a birds-eye maple neck.

Just because Camrys are everywhere on the road doesn't mean everyone WANTS one.
I agree. But I'm curious as to why maple necks aren't more like Camrys.

Eh? No way....maple is briiiiiiight. Stunning difference really, considering how little a fingerboard strip of wood really is.
Its accepted common knowledge maple is brighter.
