Need 6l6GC type tube with more upper mids.

Any recommendations? I want the EQ to be balanced like the Ruby 6L6, but with more upper mids and smoother highs. Tried EL-34's already but this amp just doesn't like them.

I like TAD WGC's. Fantastic full rich mids with a lot of balls. I was going to sell my Hot Rod Deluxe until I put those tubes in it. It's almost a new (better) amp now.

I can only tell ya my experiences from what I've tried...I've tried the sovtek 5881, the ruby 6l6gc, and the JJ/tesla 6l6gc.

Out of the three, I like the JJ/teslas the most. I found that they're a bit smoother on the high-end than the others. They go in all my 6l6 amps, and I've never really found a reason to stray.

Not sure what you mean by 'upper mids', but the 7581A is the premier 6L6 variety with a little more sparkle...ditto for the Sylvania STR types.
