Need a New Delay Pedal, What's Your Favorite?

I can't hate on the Carbon Copy. Great delay period

But - consider the old school staple - an Ibanez AD9

Also, I have used a Garage Tone Delay for that and been very satisfied - simple cheap and works.

My go to for Rockabilly Slap? BBE Two Timer....but that is bells and whistles

I prefer analog for subtle short stuff in general.

Ahhh, the old AD-9. I remember back in the 80s, I was playing with a Country band (probably the best band I ever played with, hands down). I had a ton of the old Ibanez pedals. Let's see, what did I have....

1. TS-9 Tube Screamer
2. CS-9 Stereo Chorus (Still have one on my pedalboard)
3. AD-9 Analog Delay
4. SD-9 Sonic Distortion
5. FL-9 Flanger
10. PT-9 Phase Shifter
11. GE-9 Graphic EQ
12. CP-9 Compressor

I owned all the models but didn't really know how to use them correctly. All my buddies were using BOSS pedals and I wanted to be different. Of course, all those pedals were sold or traded. Yeah, I know. But we didn't have the Internet back then.

The only thing I can add is that for slapback, I've found it's better to have a tape delay emulation, something not so hi-fi. IME a clean digital repeat delay doesn't work as well because they clutter the sound and can interfere with perception of the tempo/beats. A dark analog or analog-sounding delay hits the spot. One I didn't see recommended that could also work is the Memory Man (newer ones have dotted settings and tap). I've got emulations of that on my Alter Ego and EHX Canyon. The Ego and Canyon also have Binson Echorec emulations, Roland tape emulations, etc. Those all work great for slapback, among other things.

My favorite is the El Capistan. Just a beautiful luscious sound. Instantly sounds like a million dollar record when you take it off bypass.

For an easy to use inexpensive but super high quality delay the Neunaber Echelon V2. I have become a STRONG supporter of this company of late. About to sell my Stymon Blue Sky verb because the Neunaber Seraphim verb I bought direct for half the Strymons price for a second pedal board is killing the Blue Sky. Not much more $ than the Carbon Copy and the Neunaber sounds better plus will do a LOT more. Don't buy a Neunaber pedal anywhere but direct from them they are IMO the best effects deal in the business. https://neunaber.net/collections/pedals/products/echelon-echo-v2
