Need a new high gain amp and would love to hear some opinions

Re: Need a new high gain amp and would love to hear some opinions

I could save you a boat load of money on a good amp. Right now at Guitar Center Northridge Ca, there's a brand new $1100 Egnater Vengeance head that they marked down to $499 because it's missing the nut on the input jack.

Call GC Northridge and see if you can purchase the amp at your local Guitar Center and have them do a store transfer. You'll be getting an amp that sounds about as good as a Diezel for $500!!! I almost bought it just because. The first guy to grab this WINS!

Seriously, just add a fender combo or head for cleans. You do not buy a Ferrari with backseat space in mind. Same goes with high gain heads.

not a fan of the ENGL invader or powerball at all nor the 5150...

I would get the Mesa personally , they are super tweakable and have alot of thickness to them when needed or you can dial it out

I will throw another vote for the H&K Triamp mk2. Three channels with 2 modes for essentially six channels and they all sound killer. It gets probably 80% of the playing time now over my other amps. When I was looking for a higher end versatile amp, the other that was on my list was the Bogner Ecstasy. Different than the Triamp, but also absolutely killer!

Fryette is the king. Get a Sig:X or Pittbull and rock out. Seriously.

Damn I wish I liked that amp at all. That's a killer deal. Maybe I'll flip it...

I know you said amp, and also that most people shy away from rack stuff these days. However, you can get a mesa/boogie Tri-axis for under $800 easily. Add the power amp of your choice, or even a 2:90 and you're looking at a killer, versatile rig for probably around $1500.
