Need a strat 'bucker

I've got a Yamaha strat style guitar needing a new bridge pickup. Alder body/maple neck/rosewood board. It's geared for more of a modern rock style, so I'd like lower output. Rounded and clear is what I'm after. No JB's! I had a JB and it had this odd low/mid character I wasn't fond of. The Screamin' Demon was a little too bright for my tastes as well, is there a compromise here somewhere? A Demon with a JB's high end?

I'd say a Custom Custom for syrupy mids and smooth treble or the Custom. The Custom has thick mids sort of like the CC but more bass and tighter bass and more treble like a 59B...but alot more output than the 59B.

The Custom doesn't have that penetrating quality to the upper mids that some complain about the JB having.

I have a Bareknuckle Crawler in the bridge of my Strat, and I love it.

It's a very sweet, open sounding pickup that has a very versatile 'voice' and sounds great clean or overdriven.

I agree with what Lew said and would add to the list a '59/Custom hybrid.

I'm with Lew. Custom Custom. The Custom would work too for some more highs and tighter lows.

Definitely something from the custom line. The CC is my favorite of the bunch for the exact reason Lew described.

APH-1. I have it in my Strat and I LOVE the sound. It definitly has a great overdriven sound. And pinch hamronics just jump off the neck

I'm just replacing my strat dmz PAF pro with a duncan custom and it will be fitted in the next week, so i'll let you know how it goes & clip you. paf pro is too damn weak for me lol. Whilst on the subject, anyone remember which two wires are the ones to swap from duncan to dmz or vice versa, is it duncan green = dmz black?
