Need advice

Hi, I recently bought a Gibson Les Paul Axcess stoptail, and love it, but would prefer other pickups in it, as I feel they sound too stiff/ one dimensional. So I am thinking what SD's could complement this axe better. Take into account that this guitar has a thinner mahogany body, which is chambered also, and the push pull tone control splits both HB's. This gives it a janglier sound which I like, but am not sure if the hotter pickups are mainly responsible for this. Anyway, I play rock, and would like a medium output bridge hb, with tight lows and crunchy mids. The neck should have tight lows too, as the stock one seems to loose focus on some settings. And also would like the jangliness to be kept (I think the chambers might have to do with it). Might a Custom 5/ Pearly Gates work?
Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks in advance.

Re: Need advice

For the neck, the Pearly Gates or Jazz would be my choice to keep some jangle in there. The Jazz is more scooped, so check out sound clips and compare. For the bridge, I like the 59/Custom Hybrid, as it isn't as compressed as higher output pickups. The Custom 5 is a really scooped sound, with huge lows and highs, and little mids. It rocks in some guitars, and is brittle in others. I am thinking the hybrid is a better choice here.

Ok, thanks Mincer, I like that combination. How about a Whole Lotta Humbucker set, or a Perpetual Burn bridge? Thanks again!

Re: Need advice

The 59/C Hybrid works very well for a "jangly" pup in the neck and can be split to the Custom coil for smooth rich tones.

A Custom (ideally with an A8 magnet) would do what you want in the bridge. Sounds good split and sounds exceptional in parallel.

Re: Need advice

The WLH set is the ideal slightly hotter Les Paul set, and the Perpetual Burn has an upper mid thing going on, which I don't know if I would describe as jangle. If that isn't a concern, then the PB might be perfect. It fits what you are looking for.

Re: Need advice

How about a Custon Custom bridge/ Alnico II Pro neck?
