Could be Alder or Poplar. I've seen quite a few Kramers sanded down that were thought to be Maple, but ended up being Poplar.
Poplar isn't really a porous wood, but can soak up ALOT of finish and really add some weight.

I used to have a Striker too. Got it dirt cheap, 1 hum - 2 singles. It was a POS really, made of plywood. Any hot pickup made those things sound good.
