 Just bought a Fender American Telecaster HH guitar and thinking of changing the Bridge Humbucker Pickup, needed mainly for CLASSIC ROCK/HARD ROCK,etc music. The FENDER atomic pickup isnt bad but the clean is kind of dead sounding with no ring or sparkle to it!
Has to cleanup real nice for BEATLES,etc stuff but not muddy up when used with my Tubescreamer, looking for more of a brown/fuzz sound where notes ring out.
Had a PEARLY GATES in my old strat and was close but to muddy & distorted.
I guess just an all around humbucker pickup that can handle it all,I know Im probably asking to much but figured I'd give it a shot.
Any suggestions out there?Whats working for everyone else?
Thanx alot :burnout: :burnout:

From what you're telling us, I think that you're about to invest in an Antiquity set. :)

Antiquities would do all that and more, so I hear. Look into a nice set of them ants!

I use a Pearly Gates neck and 59 Trembucker in my dual humbucker Strat. Works beautifully, IMO. Lew

I'd go with JB bridge and Jazz neck with 250k in the tele ...

why? ask Seymour himself

I'm going to go in a completely different direction and recommend the PATB-3 Blues Trembucker model. I believe Teles have a slightly wider string spacing at the bridge, so it should fit just fine. It's my favorite bridge pickup in the Duncan lineup.

I tried the SH-14 Custom 5 in my Wolfgang, and I didn't really like it. I think it would be way too bright in a Tele. It has a lot of bass, scooped mids, and a lot of treble...almost to the point of it being piercingly shrill. I think it works a lot better in darker sounding guitars. I know a couple forum members have it in their Strats and they really like it, but personally it's just not one of my favorite pickups. I replaced mine with a Blues Trembucker, and I was very pleased with it.

If you thinkthe PG was too muddy and distorted in a strat, anything hotter than that would only aggravate the problem, I think.

Yeah the SH-14 reminds me of a QP Tele..... but that's in a Les Paul! OMG! It would kill people in a Tele! Their ears would bleed, Roy Buchanan would have nothing on you! Ha! I think the first sugestions are right on. This is the direction that I am heading 59's or Antiquities all the way.

I'd suggest either the Blues Trembucker, the 59, or the Seth Lover model. Listen to the clips on the web site -- they should give you an idea.

P.S. I believe the Antiquities are essentially a Seth lover with a weaker magnet, which gives the Antiquities a little more highs. They aren't on the sound clips, but if you listen to the Seth Lover clips and imagine a little more highs, that would be the antiquities (or so I hear).
