Re: Need help choosing a multi-effects pedal
go to a store and audition as many as possible. Fender will be releasing a Mustang Floor (i'd be willing to bet it kicks some serious arse). With that said the M series from Line 6 is pretty good. Anymore Vox, Line 6, Digitech, Boss, TC Electronic (might be a bit high end for your needs depending on budget), Fender, etc all make some pretty terrific units. It's just going to boil down to the particular fx/types of sounds you are after (the different brands have their various pros and cons). The features you want. And how much you are willing to spend.
If you like the layout and simplicity of individual stompoxes the Boss ME70 is a great way to go, good selection of fx, easy to use, and sounds great (as far as sounding dated, idk what that's supposed to mean, isn't the point of modeling to sound like old gear?).
and the remarks about TC Electronics sounding too digital and such should be taken with a complete grain of salt. Clearly people that once again lack experience in the real world using these products.
I might also like to add while having a multi fx unit can be convenient and fun it's no substitute for well picked individual stomp boxes perhaps depending on your budget you should consider getting a few key pedals.
Like if you were into blues an overdrive, wah, and uni-vibe clone would be wise starting points.
Obviously that's just one example depending on style and such things could change. I've tried finding multi fx units I loved and I couldn't do it so I went back to playing a tube amp (egnater tweaker) and having two pedalboards worth of stompboxes.
