Hello, I have an Epiphone Sheraton II

and I want to add more spank to it yet keep it dark and warm, much like a Fender Jazzmaster. Any ideas? From the research I've done here I found an SH-3 Stag Mag bridge with a SH-2 Jazz neck pups might do the trick, but I have no idea about this stuff. Any help will be appreciated. The guitar will be played through a Peavey classic 50.

Why not just either get a Jazzmaster, or pickups that are supposed to work as direct replacements for that guitar?

Well to answer your question, I don't have $1400 laying around for the reissue. I have no idea if the replacements will fit my guitar, so add that to the list of questions, will the jazzmaster pup fit an epiphone sheraton?

The only pickup that sounds like a Jazzmaster is a Jazzmaster pickup...nothing else even comes close.

I think that goes without saying, so wise up and pay attention to the f*cking question.

Hes just trying to help dude, you dont need to cause any trouble.

I agree with Phat Cats - those are soapbars (P-90s) put into a humbucker sized pickup. Jazzmasters have P-90s which give a fatter, slightly warmer single-coil tone. Jazzmaster pickups will NOT fit in an Epiphone Sheraton, unless you want to screw the guitar up and route it. Even if you do that, you will not get a Jazzmaster tone much anyway. The guitars are really different (different brands, different building methods, different materials, different parts etc etc). Id go for the Phat Cats though.

What a jerk.

Three posts under your belt and you come in here with your BS and insult one of our forums most respected and knowledgeable members.

You won't get much help around here acting like that.

Try a Dimarzio Super Distortion...you can put it "you know where" after you remove your head from that same spot.

Well, your respected and knowledgeable member was as far from helpful as possible. Gunny47 you were very helpful, thank you for your input.

Even if you put Jazzmaster pickups in your Sheraton, it would still not sound like a Jazzmaster. It's like if you wanted your Strat to sound like a Les Paul and put humbuckers in it. It still sounds like a Strat, but with humbuckers. I think that is what TGWIF was trying to say. +1 on the Phat Cats!

I know he wasnt helpful but it is the truth although i reckon u can really close with different pickups maybe Phat cats or 2 split filtertron in series (never tried it but it might work if u turn the tone control down.

Re: Need help choosing humbucker which emulates Fender Jazzmaster sound.

or maybe a phat cat mixed with a filtertron
