My son has a Fender showmaster ftm hh. He got rid of the pgp, kept the '59. He put a DD inthe bridge. He like's it, but wants fuller/wetter sound. I told him to buy a Mesa, he want's try the invader.
So how's the what's and why's you got it?
He plays thru a dsl 401. Better speaker?

Thanks

What does he mean by "wetter'?

The Invader kind of sounds like a hotter, bassier Distortion, with a blanket over the speakers... but in a good way :)

Re: need help from invader users

My son has an Invader in his Ibanez RG. That is a quite thin sounding guitar, so the Invader really helped him to get a nice fat sound with it. I would not agree on the "wet blanket" review - even if that is probably the case with darker guitars. He can easily get a lot of aggressive pinch harmonics with that guitar, and he´s the only one in his band who can do that - so I guess it is the pickup that makes it possible.

Re: need help from invader users

The Invader is a real sledgehammer. It certainly can't hurt. As far as the speaker in the DSL 401 goes, I don't have enough experience with that combo to comment on the speaker in it, but I will say that adding a 2x12 or 4x12 closed back cab to the rig will improve the fullness of the sound.

Have you ever used the Distortion? That's what my "blanket over the speaker" comparison was being made against.

The Invader does make pinch harmonics stupid-easy, but I'd attribute his being the only one able to do it to the other's poor technique. If you know how to do them well, the pickup doesn't matter.
