Hey guys! I'm a huge fan of the Goo Goo Dolls, and love playing their tunes, what's more, is I love the way they sound (usually...)
I was wondering about two songs in particular that really caught my ear, Slide and Big Machine.
In Slide (well, the version at Red Rocks), I was wondering how the electric guitarist got that fat beefy sound. Was it pups? Guitar? Amp? Pedals?
Anything's helpful guys.
And in Big Machine, I was wondering how he always got that open sound. He's using a Lester in the vid, but when he first performed it, I'm certain he used a Strat with an EMG in the bridge. I have a Squier and am gonna throw a Hot Rails in the bridge. Think that'll do the trick? I know it's not EMG heavy, but I'm not an EMG fan.
Here's what I have...
Ibanez RG4EX1, Stock H/S/H (basswood)
Jackson SLSMG JB/59n (Mahogany)
Washburn Culprit, Custom/Dimebucker (basswood)
Squier Strat, Stock S/S/S (Mysterywood)
So.. yeah. Any help guys? Do I get an H/S/S Strat? Or an SG? Or a Lester?
Or just get a DSL100 and dial in some rock?
