Need help on a decision...

I am going to be going off to college this Fall.....and HAVE to bring a guitar, or I will go crazy. I have to choose from my acoustic, or 2 electrics. Well I am definitely not bringing my souped up epi Les Paul with duncans. BUT my acoustic is a Takamine EAN15C and so precious. If i bring my squire and a small 15 watt amp i have...i always have to have headphones on or they can throw me out of the dorms cuz it says i cant amplify any instruments...etc....but then I want people in my dorm hall to hear me play and we can hang out that way.

I might just bring my acoustic...and always keep it in the case and lock it in my closet every time im not with it.

Any suggestions?

I'd say acoustic. It seems like the least hassle.

Re: Need help on a decision...

you can do what i did my freshman year and take the cheaper electric (squier in your case) and not to push my own sale but, my zoom-606 multi-FX pedal :). it works on batteries for quite a good amount of time and with headphones. or you can plug it into your computer speakers if needed. it's not the super duper best high end thing but it works damn well for practice with headphones and is small for college living. plus it will give you much more sound options than an acoustic will for those late night metal cravings hahaha. if you want it, i'll sell it for $50 shipped.

jon,
i am in the same boat as you. i think i'm going to bring my squier strat, although i'm not sure my place allows amplified instruments or not. if they do, then i'm debating wheather or not i should bring my 1x12 flextone (and a set of phones), or just buy a cheap practice amp. chances are i'm going to take the cheap route, not buy anything extra, and just take the flextone.

if i were you, i'd bring the amp/squier and your phones. like XSSIVE said, you need something to satisfy your late night metal cravings :D
