Need help on what to get for recording software

I don't want to spend a lot of money, but I need something to record guitar parts for songs in our band and I need to be able to generate tabliture for my band mates to learn the stuff I write. The sound quality doesn't need to be great, I'm just using this for communication and documentation purposes within our band. We usually sit down together and write stuff, but the stuff I come up with is kind of complex and needs time to be learned into muscle memory. Thanks a lot for any help in advance:)

Just to be extra clear on this, I need the following features:

*Audio recording capability
*Tab gereration capability
*Metronome
*Punch in function
*Multitrack capability
*Save, store, etc

The tablature generator will simply not happen. You'll need to do that manually.

Re: Need help on what to get for recording software

i have never seen any recording program with a tab generator.

GuitarPro can do it, if I remember correctly, but it's not exactly a recording program.

Re: Need help on what to get for recording software

You can do tab generation if you have a hex pickup setup(Roland GK-3).
You would come out of the output of your hex pickup converter (Roland GR30) and into the software like Sibelius and Finale.
One issue is that it'll require a bit of cleaning up unless you optimize your guitar setup and playing to account for that.

Alrighty then, looks like I just need a cheap recording program and I can get guitar pro or tux guitar for the tab stuff. Can you guys suggest some recording programs? I don't think I can trust the GC guys to not have me spend like $400:p

Reaper.
$60 for a full featured digital studio.
Free to download and try out.

Do you have an interface?
Edit: Ok, something to think about.
I just found this thing on Hello Music; Alto Zephyr ZMX124 FXUSB for $295.
It seems to be a Euro-only gadget, but I'd look at it for the kind of features you may or may not need, ie., multi-channel input, digital FX, etc.

Hey, good call on the Reaper recording software, thanks Mojomonster:) All I need now is the tab portion. I run Windows 7 and old MAC OSX or something. Thanks a lot fellas and sorry for the late response.
