Need help with Bad Horsey

I need to make what should be a simple repair on a Bad Horsey. One of the leads for the battery clip came off - a simple re-solder IF I can get to the backside of the board. The problem is, I have removed every nut I can find and it is still firmly attached to the case. Here is a picture

Anyone here have experience with these? I'm afraid of breaking the board if I pull too hard.

I'm thinking of trying to tap into one of the leads from the power plug if I can't get under there.

Any ideas?

I'm assuming you have removed the nut from the switch in case it is attached to the board directly????

Also those types of inputs usually have a little washer-type piece of plastic you have to pop out.

I couldn't find a switch. It looks like the two red LEDs near the bottom interact with two photo cells. One appears to be on/off and the other appears to be variable. The black disk between them blocks the light or opens it for on/off and the other has a triangle shaped opening for variable.

If there is a switch, I can't find it.

So what about the inserts in the input/output jacks once you remove the metal nut? Since those attach directly to the PCB you'll need to make sure those are out.

When I removed those, they weren't really nuts in the traditional sense. They were actually threaded inserts that enable the part left on the board to clear the case.

I appreciate your responses, any other ideas?

hmmmmm that's what I was referring to....the threaded nut thing. What's under the battery area?

The bottom of the battery compartment is the top of the metal case.


I actually just now got it. You were right about the jacks. There was just a little bit of lip left on each jack holding it on place. Plus the light-blocking wheel was also holding it down. I had to depress the spring loaded pedal to move the wheel out of place - then spread the case enough to get both jacks out - then it came right out.

I dont remember any Morleys having a switch. Isnt that the whole concept of the Morley wah? It doesent have switch that can break?

Cool!! Just by looking at the type of input jacks were on that thing I could tell they were the same ones with the little plastic inserts. Those things are annoying if you don't see them right away. Glad you got it fixed!!!

You're right - no switch and no pot. It's really an elegant design. But I wonder if it's got true bypass - I mean without the switch.
