Need help with the right amp

Re: Need help with the right amp

it cannot do is full-on Marshall TSL levels of gain. So, to combine the Page/Kossoff/Ralphs-type sounds with Green Day, I suggest the Haze 40 and either a distortion pedal or a level booster.

Yeah, it won't give you that crazy marshall gain but the gain it does have is pretty nice sounding. I haven't gotten the chance to try boosting the haze but I'm sure it could take it well. add an extension cab later and have a pretty bad-ass rig.

Yeah...i don't need huge gain.

If I need to push my signal I have a DS-1 and a BD-2 which I plan on modding and I've heard the classic 50 takes pedals very well.

Re: Need help with the right amp

The Peavey Classic series are great amps!!! Sounds like it would fit you great because you don't need "huge" gain. Plus the price is oh so nice.

I'm kinda biased though, cause they are made in my home state!!!

Re: Need help with the right amp

Hmm...anyone know anything about the old Peavey Deuce's?

I saw one on ebay ending soon for 200 + s/h...

Re: Need help with the right amp

The Peavey Classics are definately great amps and aren't overly expensive like Marshalls are IMO.

Re: Need help with the right amp

Yeah - the bands you mentioned are notorious marshall users. So - for a peavey that sounds like a marshall: peavey windsor. Especially as it is based on an EL34 power tube section - just like the classic marshall jcms.
Classics use EL84s which are a whole different ballgame. Nice - just different.
