It's a very good pedal if you have an older single channel tube amp and want to add a second channel. It works very well for everything from blues to hard rock. If you need more gain, they also make a Tone Bone Hot British model.
I tried one last week. I'd heard the hype, and was looking forward to seeing what it could do. I thought the lowest gain settings were alright, but the rest of the settings weren't especially musical.
I would rate the Crowther Hotcake, G2D classic and Custom, and the H&K tubeman and tube factor as significantly superior pedals. If you dig back a few pages, youll find my post on it. I'm not the only one who was underwhelmed by it. Apparently the Hot British is better.
