Need help with wiring diagram!

I am looking to hook up a humbucker in the bridge (Custom Custom Trembucker) and a single coil in the neck position. No switch, each with their own volume pot. Currently the humbucker is wired in the guitar with one 500K volume pot. How hard would it be to wire the neck pick up in with its own volume without having to mess with the currently wired humbucker? Thanks!

Re: Need help with wiring diagram!

Could you clarify please. You want the bridge bucker wired to its own vol pot and the neck single to its own vol pot. No switch. No tone?

Here's the bridge:

For the neck, just wire the white wire to the vol input lug, black to ground.

Both outputs from the vol pots go to the output jack "tip" lug. "Sleeve" lug goes to ground.

Bingo! This is the info I seek. Thanks so much man!

Re: Need help with wiring diagram!

Can I branch the neck single coil to the output/pot of the bridge to tip? Or do I need to wire the neck directly to the tip like the bridge is now?

If I am understanding you, you want to 'splice' the signal wire of the neck pickup into the signal wire of the bridge pickup, correct? If so, yes, you could do that.. But, personally, I would just extend the neck wire by splicing a wire onto that by itself, keeping it separate from the bridge until it reaches the jack. It will just make things easier down the line.

With that said, if the problem is that BOTH the bridge AND the neck signal wires aren't long enough to reach the jack, then splicing both to an extension wire ('Y' junction) would be what I would do, just use a good extension wire (stranded, 26-22 awg). Or you could use something like Wago 'Lever-nuts', I have used them in the past on other wiring jobs and they do a great job securing smaller diameter wires (though they are a little bulky themselves)..

Awesome! I will just extend the single coil's wire and run straight to the jack. Thanks so much!

Re: Need help with wiring diagram!

One last question.....I swear!

On the 1986 Jackson J100 single coil there is a white and a black wire. Knowing color codes are all over the map....which is hot and which is ground? If nobody knows how can I test with a multimeter to find out?
