Okay guys, I play Wolfgangs and I was looking for a little something more in the pickups. I think I am a fan of A5 magnets because I tried the EVH '78 and it didn't have the balls I was looking for. I play a modded 5150 and it has all the mids anyone could want...so the pickup need not be like the VH '78. I tried a Custom 5 and like it, but it lacked some mids. Would the Custom/'59 hybrid be the pickup I have been looking for? I'd like to to be a litttle on the hotter side than the EVH, but with the nice bass and high end the Custom 5 had. That was the best part of the Custom 5 to me...the low end in it. Maybe the Custom/JB hybrid? Any experiences with these pickups in a basswood body/maple top guitar? Your help is appreciated guys.
