Need high output from a pickup

hi, I'd like some recomendations for a really high output humbucker (like the invader) but with more clarity and no muddiness (like the invader).

Re: Need high output from a pickup

A few good choises : Dimebucker, Distortion, Custom.
But for really high output I'd choose the DiMarzio Evo, because I'm on the tight-nervous pickup side.

Re: Need high output from a pickup

Custom series: Custom, CC, C5 in that order
NOt as aggressive as the Invader but I thought I'd add those ideas in.

Try the Duncan Distortion

Re: Need high output from a pickup

when i tried a distortion it was too thin and lacked of bass! to trebbly, way hotter than the emg81

Re: Need high output from a pickup

If you want Duncan, go with the Custom or Custom 5. The CC may be a bit too dirty for you.

I just put in my guitar (Ibanez SZ520) a Dimarzio Steve's Special and it sounds great. Yes, it has scooped mids, but by Dimarzio standards that means it's more balanced sounding. The clarity is amazing and it's got plenty of output. Sounds very powerful and clean to my ears.

I had the Steve's Special once in my Ibanez RG and it was amazing. Ideal pup for Metal. Great note separation at high speed solos.

I have an SZ too and I'd be curious to hear what the Steve's Special sounds like... you wouldn't happen to have any clips would you?

I agree. The Custom is nice and powerful with good tone. The C-5 is powerful but has great clarity under any kind of gain.

duncan distortion

Re: Need high output from a pickup

I'd say the distortion...Or if you want a REALLY tight pickup under high gain (which it can be sometimes to a fault), you might want the Dimebucker. Thats just from the duncan line.

Other than that, EMG 81, DMZ evolution...pick whatever. They're all good pickups ;).

Nothing, It's a great pickup imo but It many times sounds too muddy for me

its the amp ! the guy from avenged sevenfold uses invaders and they sound awesome!

Re: Need high output from a pickup

Don't know what kind of sound you want, but a Dimarzio Super Distortion sounds good, it's thick but not muddy (depends on your axe)
Maybe you should try the EMGs, 81 or 85, i'm using this combination 81b/85n and they are very clear. I'm not going to stay with this combo because I don't play too much high gain stuff anymore, but that's perfect for heavy sounds
For thicker sounds, the 85 bridge must work better

that's what i thought too
played invader in a epi sg g400 of my bandmate and it sounded awesome

Re: Need high output from a pickup

nothing,i mean nothing beats an anderson H3+ for high output chrushing smooth tone.
70 bucks knew from gtr heaven is a real bargain.
exactly what you want invader output and bass with more clarity and no mudiness.

Re: Need high output from a pickup

i'd go with the Dimarzio X2N...perhaps the highest output passive humbucker on the market!
