Need info on installing dimarzio pickup (Nevermind, dead pickup)

Never mind, dead pickup.

This is try no.3.

I can not wire the pickup in series with my mini switch. I'm trying to wire it like the old carvin pickup is. (To be able to split using the toggle)

(Bottom row= Hot - Hot out to switch - Black/White coil wires) Green and bare wires solders to the back of the pot)

Could someone please help me with this asap, soldering iron is hot.

That will work, but it has two small "problems". It will leave one coil "hanging out" on the hot side, acting as a noise antenna, and it splits to the screw coil.

If it was me, I'd solder that hot wire (red) that comes from the pickup, direct to the selector switch. Leave black and white where they are. Run that red wire, that comes off the center of the switch, to ground.

At the bare minimum, move the left-most red wire to the center terminal of the switch along with the other red wire that goes to the selector switch. That will at least short out the unused coil.

Make sense?

Artie, just a quick question. how do you know which coil you will be splitting? Coz you said that for Mephis' wiring, it splits the screw coils.

Method 1:

Take the two red wires circled in blue, disconnect them both from the switch, and solder them together. Then connect a wire where the green line is.

Method 2:

Move the left red wire over and solder onto the middle red wire, leaving both on the switch.

Method 1 is better.

I'm baseing it off of the wiring color-code chart that GuitarElectronics has posted. I'm assuming its correct. Dangerous . . . I know. :)

Thanks for the info but I just retested it and the pickup is ****ed. Sorry I wasted your time.

Black lead is dead all the way into the pickup.

It was a special order double whammy, I should just throw it back at guitar center and get a SD.
