need p/u recommendation - SL or WCR?

Trying to decide between Seth Lover's and a WCR Crossroads neck/Darkburst neck combo for my Edwards LP. Guitar came with a '59 neck and JB bridge, and I found the neck a little muddy, and the bridge was too high gain for me. (Already did the RS Guitarworks pots and caps.) Looking for something that has a lot of clarity and note separation, very good clean sounds, and are low gain. I suppose vintage sounding too - who doesn't like vintage? What do y'all recommend?

You mean Darkburst bridge, right? I think the WCRs are a tad more alive than the Seths, more like SD Ants.

I think the neck pickup with best cleans and clarity is the SD Ant.

In the bridge, the WCR darkburst is actually hitting quite heavy for a PAF, more in the class of a SD Pearly Gates. I can't really recommend dropping the money asked for a new WCR without dialing things in a bit more by trying a couple used pickups to find what you like. I would try a PG, a Seth and whatever WCR you can get at prices you can resell at. I really don't recommend against WCRs, they are awesome. But you leak money like mad if you make a wrong pick when buying new ones with cover and all.

It's not quite clear to me whether you like a smooth jazzy brightness or a sparkle brightness. There's also the Lollar Imperials which give more of a "woman tone", very soft and smooth.

Thanks for the reply - going for more of a sparkly brightness. I have offers for both the SLs and the WCRs used, so its not a major $ loss if I don't like them and try something else.
