need setting up help

hey guys, just wanted to say hello. i'm new here.

anyways, i was wondering what humbucker set would be good to put on my double-humbucker superstrat. it has an alder body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard and a floyd rose bridge.

for the neck, i want something warm and not too high output but it's actually the bridge pickup i'm giving priority. i want something with a BIG, full, open sound that has screaming highs, punchy mids and tight lows. basically, a bridge pickup good for progressive metal. then i'll just pick a neck pickup based on the bridge pickup.

for the neck pickup i've been pretty much leaning towards the '59 whereas i'm leaning towards JB for the bridge but these are only based on the on-site descriptions.

some soundclips would be appreciated but none would be fine too. just need some suggestions.

many thanks.

thanks guys. any other suggestions? i was thinking of a duncan distortion set. what do u guys think?

Re: need setting up help

Actually, the DD set does fit the bill pretty well too. I have a buddy who had a set in an old LP and they sounded pretty ripping.

hey.

actually, i think i'm gonna go with a '59 in the neck. still not sure about the bridge yet though. when i checked out the pickups of my fave artists, this guy named tsuyoshi sekito, marty friedman and the like. tsuyoshi sekito apparently uses ssl-4's for his bridge while marty uses jb's but jb's r a bit too aggressive. what do u guys think sounds stratish like a humbucker version of the ssl4? something with alnico 5's i assume. i want the bass a bit pulled back, the mid just ryt and a HELL of a treble response.

now that i think of it, the screamin' demon bridge humbucker seems alryt but i haven't heard it yet despite my username. hahaha. so wat do u guys think will perform somewhat like a quarter-pound?

this is due to the fact that i only hav money for two humbuckers and i live in the philippines so the 21-day policy does not apply. hahaha.

P.S. i was also thinking of a full-shred but i haven't heard it in action either.

haha. just read the description of the phat cat. yes, seems like it. but it's a bit too low output. i think i'm now towards the full-shred. alnico v mags, great treble response. it's like seymour duncan's answer towards dimarzio's paf pro. the site says it's fat and chunky. just seemed that no pro used it which is why i never considered it seriously but hey that's not supposed to matter.

Re: need setting up help

Don't let the specs fool you on the output of the Phat Cat. It WILL scream, growl and cut through the mix like no other pickup. They even clean up nicely. I'll bet that if you try them, you'll keep them. If not, there is the 21 day return on SD pups.
