NEED SOME ADVICE FOR NEW PROJECT

Re: NEED SOME ADVICE FOR NEW PROJECT

The tune o matic idea is a fail unless you want to recess it into the body. I cant see why you would want to tho? I think if you shim the neck it will have to be to drastic to get good action and you will see a huge ugly gap.

It's actually a pretty clean look. The shims are inside the neck cavity and the way is recesses covered the gap, which doesn't have to be very much. But I do agree, a flat mount bridge will be the best fix with almost no modification.

I only really got the last bit of that? The tom would have to be routed into a cavity at least 1 cm deep, so there for if you don't route it in your neck shims would have to be way way to thick like 1cm to compensate? Or am i tripping out here?

I don't know anything about those country chord's bigsby things. But that might also have to be recessed in to sit lower than the tom?

Also why do you need a neck angle with a recessed tom? i know gibson do but that's just there thing. i think it will work fine with how the neck pocket currently is?

I think that maybe a bigsby won´t work with a recessed tom. Rather than using a recessed tom, I would use a hardtail bridge.
But on the other side, the shim idea is quite good. Maybe it will have a strange and not very good look, but it may work, and that´s what matters.

I think recessing the tom isn´t the best idea, as FPSBelarus said, I would install a hardtail bridge rather than recessing the tom.
I like the shim idea, I haven´t done that before, so I don´t know if it´s going to work, if it´s going to be bad looking or if it´s going to sound strange.
If the tom idea fails I will install a short tele bridge and that´s all.

Re: NEED SOME ADVICE FOR NEW PROJECT

Why do you need to shim? if you go with a tele or similar hardtail style bridge it will be similar to what came on the guitar there for you wont need any shims?

Shims are not intended to compensate the differences between bridges. there mealy a aid to get good action and setup. chances are you wont even need them.

Re: NEED SOME ADVICE FOR NEW PROJECT

Mmm... I'm starting to think you're right, maybe using a tele neck is the best idea.
But if I install a tele bridge the bigsby I should get is a b5 or b50?

Re: NEED SOME ADVICE FOR NEW PROJECT

You are on your own man. I have no idea. i have to many of my own projects hahahs

Re: NEED SOME ADVICE FOR NEW PROJECT

Can you get the OEM bridge that came on it, from Ibanez or E-bay?
