Need some help checking pickup

I bought a Dimarzio Chopper T on ebay and got it yesterday. I was checking the pup with my multimeter and I was only getting 5.9k. Dimarzio says the Chopper T is 9.1K. I connected the black and white and green and bare and measured from the green and ground to the red. and was getting 5.9k. Is this correct? I didn't solder the wires only twisted them. The seller wants me to use a few other meters, replace batteries and find a few rolling donuts to jump through. Should I solder them and recheck, I will appease him and replace the batteries, but I know they are fine.

Do you have another pickup you can check the multimeter with just to take a photo to give the seller proof? Seriously, just tell him you changed batteries. Of course your multimeter is fine.

Tell him the donut shop is closed.

I only have one multimeter. My question was if it is connected correctly to check the resistance or should I solder them and check. I can check them againt a 500k pot I suppose. I will send a pic to the seller also.

It sounds like you connected the correct wires together and measured correctly. Twisting is fine...no need to solder them just for this test. Just make sure that the black and white wires aren't touching anything. I would measure each coil separately to see if perhaps one coil is damaged. Disconnect all the wires and measure between the black and red wires, then measure between the green and white wires and see what you get.
