Need some help...Gibby custom shop..

Played a nice LP today. Tobacco burst, custom shop stamped on back of headstock. No model stamped on truss rod cover. Guy at shop said 95. The gibson guy I called said "probably" LP Standard, Heritage Darkburst, 97. They are asking $1795 for it. Anyone have any idea what it might be worth??

Thanks a bunch,
Kevin

A bit more than that, I'd say into the lower 2 grand area. I'm no Gibson expert though...

But I know I'd jump on it.

It's worth about $1900-$2100, but if I were you, I'd grind the salesman a little more with ALL the cash in hand.....even if you have to borrow some.
At the same time, list your guitar for sale for the going rate. Trade in customers are sometimes referred to as 'bendovers' by guitar store salesman. Just my 2 cents.

youll always get more $$ selling gear on your own. the gear ho has the right idea, show up with cash in hand and grind the hell out of the guy. where was this? my guess is you can probably walk out of the store for about $1600

Re: Need some help...Gibby custom shop..

Who's the "Gibson guy" you spoke with? Does he work for Gibson? Need a serial # to find out what it really is, before anyone can begin to tell you what it's worth. Is it all original? Any repairs? Any other issues? Many things to consider before coming up with any kind of a value for that geetar.

Re: Need some help...Gibby custom shop..

Hey guys, thanks. I'm sure that's the best way to go about it. The gibby guy was a customer service guy when I called Gibson. He wouldn't guess on a value and said there wasn't much to tell by the serial number being custom shop. SN is 7 9581. I may go check it out again. I figure the wife will have a coronary if I come home with another axe without an offset of some sorts.....but maybe if I tell her about selling my LP DC. Thanks again for all the input.

Trade ins a a losing situation 95% of the time, Grind the salesman HARD!! I would turn him into the "bendover" and make him squeal like Ned Beaty in the movie deliverance!!!!
