hello
hope all safe and sound
I just got 70s Les Paul Custom as a gift but the thing aint no ready to play.
All parts are good but PUs wise, I got old Seth Lover Neck that i love XD but what to match in the bridge?
currently here is whats laying around

BB1
Custom SH-5 ( I love it but does it go well wit the NECK? )
Custom Custom
59s (well just set of 59s?)
and another Gibson Classic 57...

LOVE Seth in the neck but as a Set
what'd you recommend for Hard ROCK
no metal please haha

It wouldn't be an output mis match. I like to balance my pickups tone wise also so that's what I was thinking. I don't know what you prefer.

Custom custom is a bit too aggressive for what you want I think. It's similar sounding to later van halen.

Out of your list I'd go sh5. It'll match fine with the neck.

If you want to get something new, I would honestly recommend the slash bridge if you want hard rock. It's still a paf and pairs beautifully with the neck but it gets gnarly when you want that gnr, Alice in chains harder rock kinda bite but also sounds awesome playing zeppelin, Aerosmith and more classic stuff.

THANKS my man... Custom will roll however.. Slash Bridge is somewhat like less hot 498T?
I just love AIC so much that i had GnL Jerry Cantrell Tribute but it didnt last long and sold it.

Slash bridge is hard to compare to anything gibson makes (including their latest usa slashbuckers). It's a great pickup and the neck is equally good. To me they sort of sound like a slightly ruder pearly gates set, but I like the cleans on the slash set better when I roll down the volume. They're underrated pickups for what they cost and much more versatile than people think. The way they're made contributes a lot of that i think. They have a special custom shop feel and sound to them without being custom shop.

I was thinking the 59/Custom Hybrid as well, though my memory of the 2 thinks the EQs may be a little different. It might be close enough, or you might want to experiment with magnets. It's an absolutely fantastic hard rock pickup though.

I'm curious though, you listed a 59 as a possibility. Why wouldn't you just get a Seth bridge in that case? Feedback issues?

well i want more output in the Bridge.
Seth Lover Bridge pick is in the 335 with a stock one.

The reason im asking around is the Guitar gotta go under repair and all the jobs including PU installation and all that will be done by a luthier.

PS

I KNOW SETH LOVER SET is a way to go but I want to play AiC !!!

A Seth bridge would sound great, but it depends on how much gain and volume you use. Feedback would be an issue with exceptional gain and volume.

More output but still matching the sound of a Seth, I would say Brobucker.

But if AiC is a must, I'd do Custom 5. The neck tone will be different, but a lot of famous hard rock music has different sounding neck and bridge, like GnR/Slash, Led Zeppelin, etc.

I have the Slash set in a Mockingbird and the Slash bridge kicks ass and cleans up really well.
I also agree the Hybrid would be a great match for a Seth neck.
Brobucker could be fantastic here too; I love that wind.

But in terms of what the OP has on hand, for hard rock I'd go with one of the Customs.

Depending on the voice of this particular LP and on what you want from it:
SH-5 if the guitar is warm or middy and/or if you want tight lows.
CC if the guitar is bright or scooped and/or if you want a looser feel.

In any Les Paul Custom, IMO either one of those should do you just fine.

thanks really..
its vintage vide to Hard Rock as AiC i want to play the Les Paul with.
now its Custom sh5 VS a New experience Sh-14.
"The Customs" haha

personally i love CC with Fuzz otherwise prefer SH-5

do you guys think purchasing SH-14 wouldnt hurt for the sake of... i dont know
coz i got way more PUs then Guitars...;;

Custom 5 is great for a midrangey guitar and pretty darn good in evenly-voiced ones too.
It's not as scooped as its reputation might lead one to believe.
Sounds like an A5, just has a little more muscle than vintage output A5 hums.
Good choice for hard rock IMO. Not quite as warm or liquid as the CustomCustom but also not as spongey.

Here's something you probably know already but I feel obligated to point it out: All Duncan Customs use the same coils.
SH-5, Custom Custom, Custom 5 - the only difference is which magnet is underneath.
You can turn your SH-5 or Custom Custom into a Custom 5 simply by swapping the magnet.
This wind also does great with A8 or UA5 mags, although those aren't stock Duncan models.

Not trying to discourage you from buying, of course.
But I too have way more pickups than I have places to use them.
