just to be accurate, tweed is not "tolex", and tweed amps typically use a dark grill with wheat stripes, not oxblood, which is a solid color originally on the blonde era amps
I think there are purists (like me) who think the tweed actually breathes better, especially if you're going for the real tweed era vibe with a solid pine cab
that said, if you're not tried to tradition, then you can get very creative
probably my favorite cosmetics, like Puck, are the blonde/ oxblood amps
green/ wheat is also a nice combo - Diaz built a lot of amps with this combo, and they're very attractive
Dr Z's amps have some nice cosmetics that don't stray too far from tradition, like blonde/ pepper or black/ wheat, and Bad Cats have a bunch of options - some with a lot of *bling*. I thought when Matchless came out, they had some of the best built, best looking cabs, with a somewhat new look that didn't get too crazy.
