need some opinions here

Well, I'd like to hear some opinions on some pickups that I've not tried. I've got a Charvel 750xl coming (mahogany body, maple top, set maple neck, rosewood fretboard, 24.75" scale and string thru). I have one already equipped with a Distortion at the bridge and a Full Shred at the neck. This combo absolutely rips for shred metal. I can't think of it getting much better, possibly with a pair of Distortions but then again, I'm biased.

Anyway, I want to try some pickups I've not used before. The only problem is, I don't really know where I want to go with this one. I've got plenty of shredders, a Hamer Artist with a pair of 59s, a Hamer Special FM with a pair of Pearly Gates, and a hamer Mirage with Vintage Rails/Vintage Rails/Hot Rails. So, I'm pretty covered as far as different tones are concerned. I've got the shred, metal, blues, rock, and jazz available.

I was thinking about a pair of Dimebuckers for another metal guitar, a Demon/APH-1n or Custom-Custom/Custom for a more rock oriented axe. I've tried the 59, Jazz, JB, Distortion, Full Shred, Custom and Pearly Gates in current or past guitars. If I can't find something new, then I guess I can go back to the good old standby - Distortion.

What do you guys think?

You've made a pretty good case for not buying another guitar. :laugh2:

But thats no fun. If it was me, and since you have the bases covered, I'd go for something on the fringe. Something you might not ordinarily try. On one end of the spectrum, Livewires, on the other, Benedetto's - A6's or PAF's.

Something like that.
