Need to get that sound

OK,

I need to get that "Gwahhhh" sound with the harmonics from a small amp and or pedals. Bad back prohibits Twins, Marshall half stacks, Vox AC30's, but I really want that harmonically driven sound on overdrive.

Which amps and effects (OD, Dist) can get me that, keeping in mind the restrictions above?

A good quality modeling pre amp (I'm partial to the Boss GT-8), a small power amp (like a Mesa/Boogie 22) and a pair of single 12" cabs wil get pretty much any sound you want and will be pretty easy to carry. (definately easier than a twin)

Boss Metal Zone pedal gives ya a good push in the right direction.

my podXT in the atomic 1x12 combo can get any sound i need with some knob turning from blistering metal to crystal clear and everything b/t. if your willing to spend the cash on the two items you can get some killer sounds and pinch harmonics that scream! i warn you, it is a bit heavy for a 1x12 though but not too bad.
