The Ultex produces a darker tone, IME than some other materials. Try TUSQ white or cream picks, or a V-Pick with a pointed tip and polished edges.

I changed from NYXL to Curt Mangans. They have clearer and more dynamic sound, slightly more open and bright. Not SS though.

Standard-core Boomers are not any more zingy in the highs than the other non-stainless models,,,,,but they do have a much brighter midrange IMO.
Ironically they don't strike me as being as "boomy" in the lows as the name would imply,,,,,,,,,,Balls are actually boomier and more scooped to my ears.

Need to slightly brighten a guitar.
I've had pickups with too much bass and to try and compensate I put on brighter strings. It helped but also made my fingers squeak more.
That was then. Now I have a similar situation and I disconnected the tone pot which helped but I'm still thinking about switching pickups. What's really interesting is that it now sounds ok on my fender amp, but on my mesa, the top strings are a little less bassy and the bottom strings are too trebly.
Top bring E, A, D and bottom being g, b , e.

Disconnecting the tone pot is a standard thing with me for 7s, because they tend to need it.
Before spending any money, I'd play around with the Presence/Treble on your amp first. Not as critical on Rectos as it is on Marks, but a little tweak can generally go a long way with Boogies...
Next step is brighter strings.

Bypass the tone pot, or run your guitar through an RC boost. Volume at 12 o clock, gain at 9, treb and bass both at 12. Just adds clarity.

This will sound extreme and unbelievable. I have two Warmoth teles that I built and one sounded too dark and the other was too bright (the dark one had a Rosewood fretboard and the bright one had a solid Maple neck) so I swapped the necks and as trial and error and luck would have it, now both teles sound excellent. If you have a Rosewood fretboard neck, try a solid Maple neck.

I thought about changing my neck too but that's a much more expensive option if you have to buy one.
I did raise the polepiece/ screw under the low E string and that helped brighten things up a little. I've never adjusted the adjustable polepieces before. Looks odd, but it works.
