Re: New 18 watt Bogner coming.....

Reinhold Bogner made it......that's all I need to know.
He is to amplification what Ferarri is to the auto world.
No matter what, I'll have one of these at some point.

edit: no pics till after NAMM, but this and the EJ strat are 'Jones 2006!'

That sounds like 15 kinds of sweet.

Thanks for the heads-up, I'm headed to the site right now to check it out.

Bogner makes the kind of amps where you start scheming of ways of coming up with money, the second you plug in. It's like plugging into the amp YOU would have invented.....at least it was for me. I'd be happiest if I had 1 of every amp head he's designed, and had them all lined up in a row.

Re: New 18 watt Bogner coming.....

Sounds great, could be just the right amp for my certain tastes. If I just now ....

***STOP***

Damn, how can I be talking like this when I haven an Einstein on order!?!? Am I nuts or what?

***SIGH***

Anyway, I wonder if it's cheaper than their other amps and by how much. It could actually be an affordable piece, if the need arises. And who's to say it doesn't?

Re: New 18 watt Bogner coming.....

and it will be 1.5k .. if you're lucky.

amp manufacturers need to make good, reliable 18W tube amps for the common player.. not for gear ho's and lawyers.

something like 400$ TOPS .. parts dont cost that much.. making them by hand does add to the price, but i think they could come up with a solution to make a no frills, no bull**** rockin 18W tube amp relatively cheap

Re: New 18 watt Bogner coming.....

$400?? A boutique amp for the price of a Crate or a Peavey? I'd think $1500 would be a fair price. It will probably be in that price range. You aint going to see a $400 Bogner ever.

Are you actually serious about this? I find it rather rude personally. If you think it's so cheap, go and build it yourself. See how much the work and the time to build your experience and knowledge costs. Then do the same. Sell your stuff to people for 400$.

For people not willing/able to pay a premium, there are affordable options. Peavey, for example. It's not like guitar parts cost that much either. It's the person working and the craftsmanship that costs, although ultimately the price is defined by the asker. I see nothing wrong with it.

I think your right and wrong at the same time. Like 1.5k Is alotta money. Weather its justified or Not, I can't say, I've never played this amp. And it would be Nice if someone would make a Nice boutique quality amp for $400, But I doubt that will ever happen.
But the way I look at it is, A Marshall DSL 50watt head is around 1.1k. And Those amps sound Pretty cheesy, and Have a tendency to Break down. So if for $400 more I could get a Bogner 18watt head, thats gonna sound Much better than a marshall, and Give me More than enough Power and features (not to mention Be reliable). I'de go for the bogner. Truthfully, when compared to other amps 1.5K Is a remarkable price.
Should Other amps be as expensive as they are? No, most aren't worth 1/4 of what they're asking for em. But with prices being like they are, The bogner being in that price range is Amazing, and probably worth more than 1.5k truthfully (when compared to other amps in that price range).

Just my opinion though, and I could be wrong. And I'm sure someone will make a point of telling me why I'm wrong. Haha.

Re: New 18 watt Bogner coming.....

I seriously doubt it'll be $1500. $2600 is probably closer.

If you want to spend $400 on something similar, look at the Hughes & Kettner Tube Edition 20. That's the budget version of what this Bogner is essentially.

no, i didnt mean a bogner for 400.. what you think i am? stupid? LOL

the thing is, a kid, who would benefit the most from a good 18W tube amp, wont be able to afford it. and then, why go for a 18W amp that will cost 1500$ when they can have a 100W marshall for less. kids dont know any better. it says marshall and it's 100W. for them it will always be like that.

if ANYONE .. would shell out a good sounding RELIABLE 18W amp for 400, it would be a bestseller.

see... who the hell can afford that? the top 10% of the guitar playing population (i am not counting the pro's)
if i fork over 2500$ i'd get an extacy or a quick rod.. 2600 is not the price i would pay for a bedroom amp. not if i won the lottery (ok, maybe then)

Re: New 18 watt Bogner coming.....

I own a Bogner Shiva, and I can attest to the fact that Reinhold is A.) absolutely insane and B.) makes the best amps out there.

I highly doubt that this 18 watter will be $2600, when the 100W XTC head is around $2600 too...I'd say $1500 appx is a good aproximation of what it will cost. Considering a stripped down Shiva cost me around $1500.

ALSO...

For all those looking for a good, no frills 18 watter, seriously, check out the Fender Pro Junior. $300 bucks ($250 if you haggle at guitar center). This amp CRANKS, has got a great natural tube tone, takes pedals amazingly, and you can crank a 4x12 with it. Defiantely the perfect bedroom/small gig amp for me.

But yeah man, that Duende sounds AMAZING. Before I'd get that, though, I'd love me an XTC 100W head, and perhaps a Bogner Metropolis. Those Bogner Metropolis's can go head to head with ANY class A amp out there.

PS. Last year at NAMM, Reinhold and company unveiled some crazy weird UFO looking molecule like amp. They were completely MIA for 3 days, then on the last day, the show up with red bull and vodka for everyone, and the whole bogner team dressed in white see thru lab-coat-like suits with goggles and facemasks while some crazy guy in a radiation suit played death metal thru this new amp. The worst part? They were all buck naked underneath the lab coats. GROSS.
