New Amp Day: Yamaha THR10C

Re: New Amp Day: Yamaha THR10C

I have the standard (cream color )THR10 and love it. Bought it new about three years ago and still think it's the best money I've ever spent on gear. No battery issues with mine. It averages about 6-7 hours with any decent brand batteries at half volume and below. Does everything from clean to plexi to high gain. Never bought any other piece of gear that made me want to play more than the THR has.

Re: New Amp Day: Yamaha THR10C

I have one and really like it, much more useable and useful in the house than any of my other amps. Enjoy.

Thanks! And I completely agree–most useful amp in my house (apartment.)

This THR is definitely making me want to play more! Such a great amp!

Re: New Amp Day: Yamaha THR10C

I am happy with these reviews. Maybe I can get over my Trademark 10 searches.

Make sure you experiment with the volume controls. Turning the master down and cranking the guitar volume produce a different sound then cranking the master and turning the guitar volume down. Loads of tones in this amp.

Definitely loads of tones in this amp...so many for such a simple and small design!

Re: New Amp Day: Yamaha THR10C

I have been using the thr10c for a few months and find it to be a great home practice amp with some great valve type tones.
To get the most out of it it is best to use the editing software as this gives you more gain via the compressor, different tones via the cabinet simulators and a noise gate.
My only issue is the fact that it does not have a footswitch and the only one I can find is the patchbox 68 unit which is a bit unusual in that it also doubles as a patch library but can only switch up and down its presets and requires external power.
Why Yamaha did not come up with a footswitch is beyond me.

Cool amp, Trey. I've always wondered how they stack up. Enjoy.

Completely agree about the footswitch!

Thank you Artie! Made me a huge fan of Yamaha for sure!

Re: New Amp Day: Yamaha THR10C

I've got the THR 5. Got it when it first hit the market. Great for practicing. In my 2 bedroom apt. Roommate has no complaints when I play late.

Re: New Amp Day: Yamaha THR10C

I got the THR5A and a Yamaha acoustic, and the amp sounds awesome for such a little fella. Doesn't pump much more volume than the guitar alone, but really warms up and livens the sound. One day an electric THR may find a way here....
