Okay. A couple of months in and it's definitely the only amp I'm laying. I got into pedals a year or two ago and the SW30 is a great platform for my board.
Got rid of the power tubes and popped in a quad of NOS RFT el84's immediately. Playing between RCA, Brimar, GE and Mullard 12AX7's. Brimar in V1 the best so far followed by the Mullard.
Fisher preferred closed backs so I ordered a full back panel for the 2x12 bluesbreaker sized open back cab I've got.
And a pair of Celestion Alnico Creams on back order. I listened to a crap ton of clips and took a recommendation from Komet so will give them a whirl.
You hear talk of an amp having "swirl". I thought I had that aural concept nailed in a few amps I had played and also built. Yes to varying degrees. The swirl on this thing is best described as 3D. The sound seems to swim around my head.
