New amp day

I bought this off reverb as non functional.

Turns out it was being switched from Russian 240v to North American 120v and someone either gave up on it or just whatever.... It sat in a warehouse in Canada for 13 years and someone found it and put it up on reverb.

I emailed the company for info about it, turns out it's the first one ever made. Serial number is 000000001
Pretty cool. It was made 13 yrs ago and taken to a big music manufacturer expo.

I got it in and took it to my amp tech to finish the transformer work.
I Just got it home a couple hours ago to give it it's first run through.

I will see how well it might play with pedals before I get the tones dialed in and post a couple sound bytes.

Congrats man. The Stonehead is about as sweet as it gets for a solid state amp imo. I love mine and have had it for over 10 years now...

It's super cool that you got the first one they ever made.....I mean, what are the odds of that?? F'n Awesome!

It gets some amazing tones once you get the hang of dialing it in (which is pretty intuitive really). I honestly have difficulty distinguishing it from my tube amps on most settings and have probably used it live w/ my band more than any of my other amps...cuz it's light, compact & delivers the brutez :lmao:...

Have fun :bigthumb:

What's the back of it look like?

Sorry I missed the questions.

Well. Long story short:
The amp only worked 1 time. For the video I hastily made.
It went back to the shop.
Tech said the original designer probably missed a small thing.
Drew me a picture of what it was. I told him just do whatever he would do if it was his amp

He ordered parts ($2.00 worth)

Waiting to hear back that it's fixed and even better than new he says.

It does not have a footswitch at least I don't have 1 for it.

Not sure how loud it gets yet.

A sound byte. I have been playing tubes for so long I have forgotten how fun SS amps can be!

We play a game on another site where we play riffs and we all try to guess what song it is. I made this one this morning.

Pretty gnarly. The only SS amp I've ever had was an old Kustom back in the 2000s. It didn't sound anything like this lol.

I was pretty pumped to hear about the return of Sunn amps. A Beta Lead would be sweet to get ahold of. But they've been on preorder since last year and nobody seems to know when they are actually going to be released. Very strange.

Well after playing it every night for almost a week. I'm pretty happy with it.

It's thick and rich, it gets plenty loud! Very dynamic and almost breathy type of feel to it. Nice metal tones, and that's all I really want.

It brings a different tone and dynamic than all my other amps. If it had reverb and or a solo boost it would be plenty good enough to gig with .

I can try the EQ pedal boost trick and add a reverb pedal I bet. I've missed using a good ol Distortion pedal. It's been really fun actually.
