New Amp for Me!

Re: New Amp for Me!

Chris, I appreciate your concern. I do not plan on owning it for very long to be frank. When I'm done with it, I'll just ebay it. When it's all said and done, I should break even from my two rock experience.

It's all part of my master plan. :)

About all of my friends stoned out, half baked ideas begin this way, :laugh2: .

But I'm sure you'll be alright Scott. Good Luck!

Re: New Amp for Me!

Hey man, I live in a half-baked world, why not a half-baked master plan? Haha!

Re: New Amp for Me!

Scott,
I believe TR is really on to something .. witness the fact that you really probably will break even selling it ...
the only downside of the TRs that I've heard, is that they take some tweaking ... I prefer to hear that an amp is simple, plug and play

I'll echo something Joneser said ... as I've said several times, the 65 Amps we heard at the LA Amp show were an "aural illusion" -- how the heck could they do that with only 18 watts???

one of the more impressive amps I've heard in several years

Re: New Amp for Me!

I guess I should be buying a 65 and reverse engineering it.

TR has a genious (joe) at marketing TR. The fact that he's getting 4500-5000 plus for a "Signature" amp, one that is supposed to have all these pluses, like select matched components, etc. is something that i"m already doing in my amps. But, he's latched onto the Dumble myth and legend. And they sell really really well. Once someone gets a GAS attack for a TR, they go nuts until they get the amp.

I'm easily bored I guess. It's a great amp for sure, but I'm bored with it. I wasn't bored with it until I made the Franklin I think the two events are entirely related. The Franklin blows away the Two Rock to my ears. At 1/3 the price.

Re: New Amp for Me!

There ya go again...makin' me GAS for a Franklin, when I don't even need an amp.:chairfall

Re: New Amp for Me!

Well, Les, it hit me like a ton of bricks about a month or so ago. I would just plug into the Franklin exclusively when I wanted to play. Then I built the JTM45 clone and I was getting as good of cleans out of that as I was getting out of the Two Rock. Considering I could build one of each and still be a grand less than the TR, it became obvious that it was time to sell the TR.

No regrets. It's a heavily GAS-inspired purchase, the Two Rock. It's a great sounding amp for sure, but if you're not playing the gain channel at all, it's not worth it. I could set up the Franklin and the Edana with an ABY pedal and have the edana set for cleans, the franklin set for gain and I'd be set.

Now to just build both amps into one chassis! :)

Re: New Amp for Me!

Oh my.... a 2x12 with a Franklin running one speaker, an Edana running the other? ... hmm.... hmmm..... hmmmmmm......
