One of my favourite amps in the world is the Bruno Pony 50. Unfortunately I will never have a situation where I could play one where it needs to be, SPL-wise. I have used it at rehearsal a bunch of times and always loved it. The Cow Tipper has a different timbre, but still has that 'Bruno' thing going on...
I do wonder how Buno's input has changed the traditional Vox sound...

Great tone. Reverb tank spring was broken in shipping. But it's under warranty since I bought it from a shop on ebay. Sounds damn good, what a sleeper. Fendery cleans with some Brit grit. Definitely more American. Passed over I'm sure by folks looking for that American fender sound because the name Vox on it. I opened it up. Circuit board is not overly thick but it looks Chinese well made. I want to try a few other speakers in it. Celestion 12-65 stock.

Vox TB35C1 and it's as good a $599 eBay amp I've ever gotten my hands on. So this shop in AR couldn't sell it. Tired power tubes tells me it got played a lot. Had a ding in it that was disclosed. They sell for 1199 new. They released an. eL84 version a while back that lists for 599. I've not seen or played that one yet.

I'd love to see the innards of this thing. Glad you're loving it Scott! I've always heard great things about Bruno but some of the old pics on forums always make me cringe a little. More recent stuff looks much cleaner. All of this is based on my limited observations from the net of course... the tone doesn't lie though.

Bruno seemed to get a bad rap for messy builds. Honestly if they sound like angel ****, I don't care what they look like inside. Hell, Dumble put black tar goo on his circuit!
This amp is not hand wired. The prototype was and Vox put the circuit onto circuit boards (fairly thick ones. There are no schematics out there. But I hope to get one from the service center)
I will be taking it into a service center in Houston soon. I got a full warranty on it and the tubes. Tubes are tired and the reverb pan has busted connection. I'm hoping to get a new pan and new quad of 6V6's for my trouble.
This is a very good gigging amp. The boost came with that foot switch. Very good over driven cathode biased tones, master volume can be switched out if the circuit and it's even got a deep switch (bass boost).
I am building an amp for a buddy and tried to talk him into buying the Vox Bruno 35 instead!

Oh by all means they DO sound heavenly! I hope you didn't read my comment as derogatory. It was merely an observation (and not a first-hand one at that) and didn't mean to dump on your new amp. I'm sure it's amazing. I'm like you: I'm impressed by neat builds (such as your work) but if the amp sounds great I couldn't care less about what it looks inside.
