Dudes ill buy a new amp because my first one really sucks. So this will be my second one, and i dont know much of amps yet so i need your help.
First of all, how many watts should it have??
i mean, i dont have a band yet, and i practice a lot at home, but maybe i will form a band soon, so i want something that can be listened when the band is jamming, but not much power that i will not use later.
My style of music is hard rock, main influence Slash, and I will like that you include the price of the amp.

Thanks mates :)

Re: New Amp Help Please

well, practise by yourself 10 watt tube is good. But a jam session or real small gigs 30 watt tube amp is good. If you wanna go solid state, probably 80 watt for jam and small gigs or about 30 watt for small practise by yourself. Peavey classic 30 is "classic rock" and it also pumps out some blues rock type of stuff as well. It'll cost about $350, depending where you shop and if you buy new or second hand. marhsall jcm900 are great also but they are a bit more exspensive. Anyways, some other people will offer suggestions I'm sure

Re: New Amp Help Please

Yeah what pecan said, good amps and 30W tube is plenty.
I would recommend tubes over SS, they just sound better. At least IMHO anyway.

A Fender Blues Junior is nice too and in the same price range.
Most small, amps are clean only so it would be good to consider a good od/distortion box to go with it. If you want to go gigging in the future it would be a good idea anyway because there will be occasions where you'll be playing someone else's amp.

Look for 2nd hand stuff, you'll get more for less. Good luck!
