New amp Hiwatt 100

I found this in a flea market last Wednesday.Its a 73 Hiwatt Custom Built PA 100. It sounds like the DR103 I traded on Monday, but with more drive like a CP103. I have Hiwatt tone again.It doesn't have a mid control,but dose have a effects loop and Pre out as standard as well as the extra inputs. I'm not sure how much these are worth,it must be less then the coveted Custom 50/100 heads. Having now had both,I can say this is just as good a guitar amp as them. I'm going to clean it up and replace the silver control knobs with chicken heads like the normal Hiwatt's.

never seen one of those before!!!! Very nice find... and ya changing to the Chicken Head knobs will make it look nicer... but hold onto the silver knobs incase it's going to reduce any value it may have...

I love PA heads, my Laney PA gets me Supergroup on the cheap with a lot more input versatility. Sweet SCORE!!! I too have never seen one.

I love how tidy a hiwatt is on the inside. Just an awsome job wiring those old point to point boards.

This sounds smoother and has more punch then my 76 JMP 100 Super lead.

Never seen one of those, but it's beyond uber-cool. I wonder how it would sound with Roger Daltry singing through it?

Nice geetars, too, I've owned axes like both of those over the years.

I'd really love to try one of these out. How much did you get this for?

£140($280). But it had a busted Mullard,no power lead and the shiny knobs,I'm sure they should be chicken heads.

Excuse the crappy camera phone shot but here is an older Fender PA head I picked up for $50 about 15 years ago.

Here it is. I also have a great Valco built Wards PA that is amazing. Owned a 68 Traynor Voicemate, loved it and have an SS Shure Vocalmaster that sounds very tube like. Superb grind for guitar. I was shocked when I heard it!

It is a bunch of oddball fun, mostly off brand stuff from the 60s and 70s.

I love the old stuff. Some of it is great and can be bought for a fraction of new gear prices. I'd definitely go for that Laney.
