Thread title pretty much says it.
Last night I scored an F-50 head on eBay for a fraily good price IMO. My mom payed via paypal last night, so I don't know when exactly it'll get here, and being that my family is going on vacation today, that really blurrs any idea of when it might get her.For any other info see auction link(below) or just ask me.

Full Review when I get it and my cab(which I havn't ordered yet)

Sorry that this is a crappy write up, I haven't even bought anything big big let alone made a thread about it.

can your mom adopt me :deal:
Nope, I already have an adopted sister. And personally, 1 sibling is enough for me.
BTW, why would that matter?

Re: New Amp: Mesa/Boogie F-50 head

*cries*

I wish I had the guts to buy something like that when I was 13.

Wait, I didn't play guitar when I was 13. Scratch that. But I think we all expect some soundclips when you get it.

Re: New Amp: Mesa/Boogie F-50 head

Nice! I know you have been looking for an F-50 for a while and that looks like a very clean one...complete with the footswitch and slip cover!

Re: New Amp: Mesa/Boogie F-50 head

Congratulations.

I love that feeling that comes with buying new gear.. :biglaugh:

Aren't the F-Series amplifers more known for their clean channel? I thought they were the Mesa model that all the Jazz and Blues players prefered. Am I wrong, does it have a killer lead channel?

Good for you Nite, I know you have had the hots for one of those for awhile now.

Now if you can talk your mom into a new LP Std you'll really have it made.

In a couple of years, shoot for a 'Vette.........

Very cool..........

Re: New Amp: Mesa/Boogie F-50 head

Having had one, IMO the strength of the F50 is DEF the clean channel. It's just an awesome clean, slightly dirty or crunched up sound. FOr my ears, better than anything else I've heard. Wes Montgomery, Brian Setzer, SRV, it even did a hellatious JTM type tone cranked. VERY versatile, very sweet.

The Gain channel w/ contour kicked in, IMO is more useful than the gain channel alone. W/out the contour it's a very dark, syrupy tone.... the contour adds some sizzle and crunch...with the gain set way low, you can get some really cool light crunch tones...and then get into insane gain. It has a voice all it's own...smoother than a Recto, not as crunchy as a MKIIc/MKIII. Ultimately it was just too dang loud for me, and I had to come to grips w/ the fact that I'm an El34/Marshall type guy, so I sold it. It did everything but my all time fave sound...which is a cranked Marshall NMV or 70s MV.

BUT..if money/volume were no issue, I'd buy another JUST for the clean channel..it's THAT good.

Re: New Amp: Mesa/Boogie F-50 head

Glad to hear you got what you wanted. I'd get a 2-12 closed back from Mesa or Avatar.

Just wait till your mom hears what her money bought........deafness!!!! LOL

I would like to know how close these heads are to the DC heads, it says in the auction that they are the evolution basically of the DC's if so... im interested.

I'd say the f series is a significant improvement on the DC series. Much nicer cleans and mild breakup tones, and a more recto-ish lead channel. None of that DC cludgy gain sound.

Re: New Amp: Mesa/Boogie F-50 head

According to the Harmony-Central reviews it sounds like a really sweet amp! Great cleans and a Marshall/Mesa mix of distortion.

Nice score Nitey!

Re: New Amp: Mesa/Boogie F-50 head

ITS ABOUT FREAKING TIME BRO!!!

:laugh2:

Good for you man, I remember what it was like when I got my first piece of pro-quality equipment. Thats a sweet amp.

The cab you're lookin at to match it looks pretty good too, my old guitar teacher used to have a rack setup prolly worth somewhere around 5k or so, and used to put it through one of those little mesas 1X12s with the black shadow speaker. That **** was LOUD!!!

congrats dude, and good luck with it!
