No clue....it has to run thru Customs:smack:
Hey, spend the extra couple dollars & send it USPS Priority Mail.
I've been having fast results with them. :bigok:

I can't remember how he's shipping it (when the dealing ended netween us I had him paying for shipping)...I think it was either UPS or DHL. It shouldn't be any later than a week from Monday or maybe Tuesday.

Re: New Amp Time!!!

AWESOME !! IMO the Vibrolux is the ultimate Blues gigger!! I played thru one at a open jam 10 years ago,And was blown away. I had major Vibrolux G.A.S.!
I located a mint 64' in a local shop, But they wanted $950 for it. Sounds like a great deal now. But in 95' that was a bit steep.:ugh1: Right next to it was a SF Princeton He offer me for $329. So I jumped on it. I 've never regreted buying that Princeton :D. But in retrospect... I should have just got the Lux' and had it over with. Cuz' that's the amp I really wanted. Being frugal when it comes to tone = 2nd best.:smack:

Re: New Amp Time!!!

KMC,

This isn't a "real" Vibrolux...it's a new production amp. It has a lot in common with a real deal 'Lux but it is a little different. I hope I can get into it, these amps are a good but crunchier than an older 'Lux which is good but I'll just have to feel it out...Hot Grits told me to look into one, I did and inside a music store I really liked it, we'll have to see how she does at gigs and what not...I hope she can hang in there! BTW...I would LOVE to have a good Princeton, in fact I have kind of been on the look out for a good one but these days they just go for way too much money!

If you don't mind, how much? At least it's already been upgraded with speakers and new tubes! I'm actually selling my Bassman LTD, since I have no use for a loud clean amp with no reverb. Everytime I plug into the Matchless sitting next to it, I ask myself "why do I need this Bassman?"

Man...do I hear you! I'm selling my real '59 Bassman (and a bunch of other amps) this year because I just never play anything except my Matchless SC-30 that you recommended I buy. I did plug in my blackface Deluxe Reverb this morning...I like the reverb, but the Matchless sounds better. The Matchless sounds better than any other amp I own...wish it had reverb though...I do like a tiny bit of spring reverb.

Christian: congrats on the VR Custom! Those are cool amps and the Kendrick speakers should sound great in that amp . Were the originals Reissue Jensen P10R's?

Lew

Re: New Amp Time!!!

Thanks Lew!

I was tempted to hold out for a real "Lux...like a BF or an early SF but those go for a lot of money these days and to be honest i got that CVR for a very fair price so I decided to take a gamble on it. The stock speakers were the Jemsens and I don't get them but thats cool...I tried out a few CVR's recently and the speakers were a little on the sharp/tinny side to my ears, hopefull these Kendricks will have some more body to the tone...if not, I will be getting some Webers or maybe a set of Celestions!

Im pretty sure I will like the tone of the Kendrick soeakers but my issue is that the Kendrick speakers are 20 watt speakers and the amp is 40 watts...that might be a little too close for me...but I hope not!:)

Re: New Amp Time!!!

If you do decide to swap for other 10's I would highly recommend the Weber 10F125 "C10Q" over anything else. They are the closest in tone to my favorite 10's of all time, the '66 Jensen C10N, of any 10 I have tried. Most excellant!

Re: New Amp Time!!!

I was looking at this amp a while back ....

Evan said that Seymour had one, and thought it broke up too quickly

When I looked at the specs, I was a little surprised that Fender used P10Rs, as they're a little wimpy - I would've thought they'd use at least P10Qs, especially since Fender tends to overcompensate the power of speakers compared to the old days

the Kendricks are ceramic speakers, aren't they? if so, the owner probably used them to tighten the bass a little

in any case, I liked the fact that they reduced the negative feedback, so that's probably the main reason it breaks up sooner ... like any tube amp, the key is to set it up correctly for your style, and that means the type of tubes, setting the bias, and getting the right speakers dialed in

I'll be interested to see how you like this amp, because it does seem like a really convenient gigging package

Hey Curly-mon! How you doin' brother? :beerchug:

The Kendricks are ceramic.

I really like the P10R speaker but I always combine it with a ceramic magnet speaker to add a little tighter cleaner deeper tone. By itself the P10R farts out a little to soon...unless you're using four of them in a Tweed Bassman or something. Lew

Re: New Amp Time!!!

Gary, I talked to Hot Grits for quite a while before I even went and played one...he has a few little tweaks to the negative feedback loop to make it a little cleaner. They have a good clean tone as far as I could tell in a music store but I liked that they broke up pretty quickly. I not sure about the Kendrick speakers but we'll see...like I said if those don't do it for me Im gonna give the Webers a shot or maybe a set of Celestions...new tubes and I'll be good to go I hope! I'll keep you guys posted.

Re: New Amp Time!!!

Hi, Lew & Christian

I agree that this amp might be a good candidate for a combination of a ceramic and alnico speakers - that would give you a tight bottom and singing highs
