New amp with a $500cdn max price tag.

Happy Holidays.

Anyway, Im looking for a new amp as somehow my old practise one got busted. Heres what I'm looking for:

I want an amp for basically cleans and hard rock sounds. I dont need huge distortion as Ive got my MT-2. What I'm looking for is one mostly for private use but I'd like it to be able to handle itself in a band situation. Maybe say 60-100 solid state or 30-50 tube. Ideally I want to have one channel clean, one channel hard rock distortion (zeppelin, Halen, etc.) and then click on my MT-2 for my metal. And I dont really like modelling amps, buiilt in effects are ok though

Pricing is the toughy, the price of a classic 30 is pushing how much I want to spend. Probably around $500 cdn is my ideal price tag. Just throw some suggestions out there. I just need to have some ideas of amps to look out for when i go out looking in the shops.

thanks in advance

AMPS TO LOOK AT LIST:

Classic 30
fender blues jr
Fender 212r

1 suggestion Fender FM212R 100watts solid state 1 12 inch speaker
1 clean channel and 2 distortion channel, comes with footswitch
you can pick it up for $300 and it can definetly handle itself in a band environment
Rock On :smoker:

Ive played the 212r and it might be too loud for practise, but I will consider it.

Definitely check out the Behringer Vampire. It just might be perfect for what you're looking for! Only $249.00 US (not sure how much that is Canadian).

You can also visit www.v-amp.com and listen to the v-amp2 sounds (the same basic DSP effects as are in the amp.) I've played this amp at Guitar Center...and it rocks.

Good luck with your decision!! :)

Why buy new. Most likely you will be tweaking it with tubes and speakers to get it the way you want it. You can get a used Classic 30 and do all the above for 500.00 and you will think you are playing through a 1000.00 amp

Re: New amp with a $500cdn max price tag.

I just want to have more options to look at other than the C30.

...until you get a 5150 :)

You should definitely shoot for a tube amp. I would say Peavey Classic 30 as well. With your pedal, that would be like having four different channels. Clean, Dirty, Clean+Pedal, and Dirty+Pedal.

Good luck!

Re: New amp with a $500cdn max price tag.

I second the Behringer V-Ampire. I have one for sale actually. It is perfect for practice and recording. PM me if interested.

i plan ons pedning about 1 grand in canadian ona new amp as well, i am really looking into the mesa boogie f30 which ill try sometime in the new year.

Re: New amp with a $500cdn max price tag.

I think your best bet is the Classic 30, they are very nice amps! then you upgrade tubes and the speaker and its a killer amp :D

Re: New amp with a $500cdn max price tag.

any thoughts on the Peavey Studio Pro 112? I was offered like 100$ offl at a shop today.

Re: New amp with a $500cdn max price tag.

Peavey Ultra 60 Tube, Peavey Classic 30, Randall RG G2 Series Amps (75/100/200 watt)

No go on the Studio Pro-i have on from the 80s--sucks--i know this one is probably new but it wont be loud enough anyway...

Those suck balls.

I've heard some good things about the new crate v series. Try not to get a solid state amp though. Tube is the way to go. Classic 30s are nice too. The blues junior wont be loud enough for practicing in a band tho.

Re: New amp with a $500cdn max price tag.

Also, think about those old fender silverface twin reverbs. I've seen some for around $450

Re: New amp with a $500cdn max price tag.

I bought an FM212r today, I got it for 400cdn, thats like 150$ off. I would have got a tube but they are way out of my price range.

Re: New amp with a $500cdn max price tag.

ah, shoulda gone tube man!.... your gonna want a tube amp at some point.....anyways, good luck with the new amp

Re: New amp with a $500cdn max price tag.

Which one would be a better amp? The Fender 212 or a Behringer GMX 212? Out of curiosity?
